On a list dominated by Toyota, Honda and Nissan and led by hybrids, the Kia Rio snuck in on the Top 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Sedans of 2008 list from Edmunds.com.
Edmunds.com’s evaluation used the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) miles-per-gallons ratings for city and highway travel and more specifically, utilized the EPA’s combined fuel economy formula of 55 percent of city mpg rating plus 45 percent of highway rating. According to Edmunds, “The universally competent Rio has done a lot in terms of upgrading the image of both the Kia brand and economy cars in general. Its fuel-efficiency is icing on the cake.â€
