Kia Motors America recently announced July customer cash incentives for 2008 Kia models. The cash amount ranges from $500 to $4,000, depending on the model.

An example: the 2008 Kia Sportage
A good example of the difference dealer cash makes is the 2008 Kia Sportage. Even though the 2008 Sportage is selling well, Kia would like to move more of them off dealer lots. In order to do this, Kia is putting $2,000 – $3000 customer cash on the Sportage. But wait, there’s more. If you are currently driving one of 37 vehicles considered a “competitor”, Kia will up the ante by another $500.
Let’s price out a 2008 Sportage. The 2008 LX 4WD model with the 2.7 liter 6-cyl engine and automatic transmission also includes an AM/FM/CD sound system as well as front, front side and full length side curtain airbags. The MSRP is $21,345. With tax and fees (estimated), we’re looking at $22,900 or so. Now, subtract the $3,000 in customer cash. If you currently own a Chevrolet Blazer or a Ford Explorer, you can subtract an additional $500 in competitive cash for an amount to finance of $19,400.

Rebates and customer cash are a great way to not only make a vehicle more affordable, but also contribute towards your down payment. In the case of the Sportage, you can buy a vehicle with a retail delivered price of almost $23,000 for just over $19,000.
