The global online contest for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa opening match is now live. The site is available in seven languages and connects the globe for the worlds most exciting football competition.
The view from the Summit
Here at Summit Place Kia in metro Detroit, the 2008 football season has finally come to an end for the University of Michigan. And while the season wasn’t as successful as we had hoped, we are already looking forward to next year (in the mean time, we have the basketball and hockey seasons to enjoy).
But it’s also important to remember that in other parts of the world, the most important sport is soccer and Kia Motors is a very big sponsor of the next World Cup Finals event scheduled for South Africa in 2010. As part of that event, Kia has launched a new web site, the fifa2010.kiamotors.com microsite, that recently went live and challenges participants, until December 3rd, to predict the outcome of the playoff matches being held in November as well as how the 32 teams will be split into tournament groups. Here is the information from Kia Motors:
(Seoul) November, 2009 – Before the Final Draw is made for next year’s FIFA World Cup™ competition (in Cape Town on Friday 4 December), Kia Motors Corporation announces the launch of its online competition for the chance to win a full hospitality package for two people at the opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.
Kia’s ‘Final Draw Prediction Game’ challenges participants to predict the outcome of the 20-plus play-off matches being held during the second half of November and how the 32 qualifying teams will be split into their eight tournament groups.
The play-off matches give so-far-unqualified teams from all around the world – such as France, Russia, Cameroon, Egypt, Togo and New Zealand – a last chance to secure one of the nine places remaining in the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.
After the Final Draw is made, one Grand Prize winner will be selected by Kia to receive full hospitality to visit the opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ in Johannesburg, on 11 June 2010 (Group A). The package includes match tickets, return flights and accommodations for two.
“The FIFA World Cup™ and our new ‘Final Draw Prediction Game,’ give Kia a great opportunity to connect with our customers in the context of the world’s most fantastic football competition,” commented Mr. Hyoung-Keun Lee, President Kia Motors Corporation.
The online competition went ‘live’ on November 10th at the Kia Motors football microsite (fifa2010.kiamotors.com) and runs until 3 December. The site will be available in seven languages, English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Korean. The game can also be accessed, in nine countries (UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, Chile and Australia), through MSN Messenger.
