Yesterday we learned that Summit Place Kia in Waterford finished first in new Kia sales in the month of December for the state of Michigan – our sixth month in a row at number one and, with the sales figures in for 2009, we are now the number one Kia dealer in sales in Michigan.
Here at Summit Place Kia, it’s hard for many of us to remember that it’s been just over two years since we moved into the former Dick Scott Kia showroom and began to sell cars. At that time, this particular Kia store was dead last in sales in the Detroit Metro market with customer satisfaction scores that were the envy of absolutely no one. We certainly had our work cut out for us!
That was then, this is now
Since that time, the team at Summit Place Kia, with the help of our outstanding customers, has accomplished things that no one would have thought possible twenty six months ago.
At the end of December, we celebrated our twenty-third straight month as the sales leader in metro Detroit – that’s twenty-three months and counting as the top Kia dealer in one of the toughest import markets in the nation.
Commenting on the latest sales achievement, Rich Lalonde, owner of Summit Place Kia, attributed the continuing success of his dealerships to the efforts and dedication of all the employees at both Summit Place Kia stores. “We are absolutely thrilled with our latest sales achievement. We also learned that Kia Motors America, like us, just announced a record sales year. IRVINE, Calif. – Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced December sales of 21,048 units, a 43.7-percent increase over the same month last year, and total 2009 sales of 300,063 units, a 9.8-percent increase over the same period last year. Kia small cars, including Kia Rio, Kia Forte, Kia Forte Koup and Kia Soul led the way in monthly sales volume.
“In the midst of our largest commitment to the U.S. market ever, we have once again prevailed against difficult economic times and a down automotive industry by increasing our market share for the 15th consecutive year,” said B.M. Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia. “Our new and appealing design evolution paired with our core principles of quality, safety, value and technology will continue to boost our brand into the next decade.”
